Why do I need a Practice Website?
A Practice website will give your patients 24-hour access to important Practice specific information. It can feature all the information contained in your Practice Booklet, but is far more cost-effective and easy to update.
The repeat prescription form and online appointments via EMIS (if applicable) that come as standard with our websites also relieves the burden of form handling and telephone answering on your Practice staff, allowing you to direct this valuable resource elsewhere.
GP websites also include a downloadable Practice Booklet, so you or your patients can print off a hard copy version if needed. This gives the added benefit and cost saving of not having large quantities of out-of-date booklets to dispose of, you can just print off more copies as and when you need them. Or we can organise a limited quantity digital print run on your behalf, so that you have enough booklets to hand if you need them.

How does the service actually work?
It's simple. You choose a website style from the options available. You supply us with your text and the images you want on your site. You choose an available .co.uk domain name (which we can register and purchase on your behalf) or we transfer your existing domain name to our webspace. We build your website. You proof and approve your website online. We set up a standing order payment scheme with you, receive the first payment and launch your website onto the internet.
Please note that we don't accept any payment from you until you're completely happy with your website and it is ready to launch.
And then what?
GP Websites host and maintain your website, taking care of all problems and making any amendments you require for the duration of the first year's contract, and then continue until you tell us you wish to cancel the service.
What happens if I cancel the service?
After the required one month's notice we simply stop taking payment from you and remove your website from the internet. It is as simple and easy to cancel the service as it is to set it up in the first place.
What happens if I don't need you to manage the website after you've built it?
This is not an option. When you employ us you are paying for a service which, amongst other things, includes the right to the use of a website based on a chosen template style. All rights to the finished website are retained by the designers - Yellow Creative Ltd - you are not buying the website itself.
Don't I own the website then?
No. You are purchasing the use of a website owned by ourselves. In much the same way that you would pay to have an advert in a magazine... the advert information is yours, but you are paying to have it displayed in a magazine which is owned by the publisher.
What about the domain name?
You own the domain name and are free to transfer it to another webspace if you no longer wish to use our service after the first year.
Will Search Engines be able to find my website?
Standing out from the crowd can be difficult, especially with Google alone claiming to list over 8 billion pages. We therefore offer a search engine submission package for the equivalent of £3.83 per month, which submits your website to the leading 100 search engines every month for a year. Will my website comply with the Disability Discrimination Act?
This legislation came into full effect in October 2004. All our websites include 'alternative descriptions' on all pictures and menu bars so that they are fully accessible to visually impaired patients who use page reading software.
Does the Repeat Prescription form retain previously entered information?
Yes. It has been set up to ‘remember’ information entered previously. This is to make it easier to order the same items each month. There is a requirement for the user to enable his browser to use cookie scripts for this service to work.
Can appointments be booked online?
Yes, via the EMIS system (if applicable).
How can GP Websites offer the service so cheaply? Do you charge for compulsory extras or have long 'tie-in' contracts.
We don't have any compulsory extras and you only have to commit to one year's contract. We offer an honest service at an honest price, and everything listed is included in that price. Because of the unique nature of our service we hope to benefit from 'word of mouth' recommendation and repeat business.
What happens after the first year?
Nothing... the service will continue uninterrupted unless you tell us otherwise. We require just one month's notice to cancel the service if that is what you wish.
What information can I include on my website?
You can put whatever you like on your website though please note that our £20 per month service only covers the information required to be in your Practice Booklet. Any extra information, i.e. Non-NHS services and fees, will be charged as an extra page at £1.50 per month, and all amendments to that page are included in that price.
Changes/Updates/Amendments - What's included in the price?
All website maintenance, e.g. broken links, pages not displaying correctly, etc. All amendments and updates required to be in the Practice Booklet, e.g. new partners, changes of premises, etc. Also the addition of new requirements like the recent Freedom Of Information rules.
Apart from the advertised price, are any other fees payable?
Only if you decide to buy one of the optional extras, which are payable on order.
How does the £35 per month bespoke service differ from the £20 per month service?
Only that you get a unique website designed specifically for your Practice. Everything else is exactly the same.
What is a downloadable PDF Practice Booklet?
A PDF is a file that can be opened and viewed by any computer with a PDF Reader (virtually all modern computers include a PDF reader as standard, if not it can be downloaded free from www.adobe.com).
As part of our service we provide a downloadable, printable Practice Booklet in a PDF format, so that patients can print off a hardcopy if they want to, this avoids the cost of a printed version and enables updates to be carried out at the same time as updates to the website itself.

You can pay for our GP websites service in small monthly payments of £20 (£23.50 inc. VAT).
Customers who wish to pay annually in advance will receive one month for FREE.
